Barry Wanger, President

Barry Wanger, the agency's founder and principal, has more than 30 years of professional experience in communications as a public relations counselor, newspaper editor, and Presidential campaign press secretary.

Prior to starting Wanger Associates in 1985, he served as director of public affairs for the National Endowment for the Humanities, Brandeis University, University of California at Santa Barbara, and Wheelock College. He also spent nine years as a newspaper editor and reporter.

He has served as an adjunct professor of public relations at Boston University and has written and lectured widely on public relations, particularly in the areas of nonprofit public relations, crisis communications, and media relations.

Barry is one of approximately 300 public relations practitioners in the U.S. to be elected as a Fellow of the Public Relations Society of America. He is a former officer of the organization. He holds an M.S. in Public Relations from Boston University.
