PR AUDITS
How effective is your institution's communications program? What can you do to reduce costs and generate greater efficiency? How do your media relations program, publications, and website compare to your major competitors?
Are you effectively taking advantage of new social media? Are you appropriately staffed to meet your needs? Are your written messages and graphic images clear and consistent?
Wanger Associates has conducted more than 20 communications audits for colleges, universities and hospitals. In virtually every case, the audits resulted in significant cost reductions and/or a dramatic improvement in an organization's communications program.
Institutions often contract for audits when a new president takes office, when a new individual is hired to oversee institutional advancement or public affairs, or prior to hiring a new head of public relations/public affairs.
We offer two basic audit programs:
- Comprehensive audits These audits typically look at your entire communications program, including internal and external communications, media relations, publications, direct mail, advertising, websites, and direct mail.
The comprehensive audits usually include extensive research, including focus groups, surveys or interviews of target groups (the media, current and prospective students, trustees, alumni, etc.), and benchmarking.
- Mini-Audits If you are looking for an outside expert to evaluate one or more aspects of your communications program and provide concise recommendations for improvement, this option may serve your needs.
“The impact of the news coverage and the cover stories in our trade publications has been amazing. Admissions applications are at a record high and we've never had so many visitors and inquiries about our museum.”
“Most importantly, the media coverage has had a significant impact on our capital campaign
the credibility engendered by the clips has played a major role in this success.”
